Learn, practise and build conversational skills in your language. Use the picture cards to teach the basic words and sentences, then use the poster scenes to ask questions and model answers. Before you know it, your learners are yarning up!
Who? Ages 3+, individuals or groups.
How? Lay the cards out, one level at a time, starting with Level 1 (yellow). One speaker asks questions and models answers, pointing at the different pictures. Later everyone can ask questions.
The number of things you can talk about in your language increases with each level. Always start with saying what’s in the picture: Here’s a dog. The dog is drinking water. If you’re not sure where to start, try these questions.

The cards include both transitive and intransitive verbs, so remember to use your language’s grammar to indicate who is doing the action, and who it is being done to!
Make it your own
- Write your language on the back of the cards if you like.
- Name it in your language. How do you say Who, What, Where in your language?
- Make more cards. This is only a beginning. Add lots of other picture cards and posters to suit your mob, country and lingo.
The cards and posters can be used in any way that you think up. Over to you!
